For the love of hens
Effie and Bunts is named after two of the first hens I gave a home to. They came from a battery farm and just embraced their new lives. Any money I make is by and large spent on mealie worms for the hens that came after them, and who continue to rule the roost. I live in a shed at the bottom of the garden.
What's on my worktable today
I'll let you into a secret. The older I get, the more I am drawn to vintage toys and over the past few years I've taken to sourcing dolls bed, having come across quite a few in France and Belgium. This is one I js or cribs/ cradles. The one in the immage was from a few years back and was sourced in France. It's a 1930's bedroom suite, which perfectly fits a 9cm Maileg rabbit (or mouse). The bed now has a new traditional French ticking mattress; two flat sheets (one embroidered); two pillows with separate pillow cases (embroidered); a scatter cushion and separate cover; an embroidered blanket and a vintage quilt.
Ethical Shopping
All the items in the shop are vintage in origin and are sourced by me on my travels as I rummage through the UK, France, Belgium and anywhere else I find myself. I am passionate about times gone by and love the thought of reusing pre-loved items from the past. They bring with them a history and a promise of untold stories. I buy what I like and would happily have in my house if I had any room left. Any items I make are also fashioned from vintage linens, cottons and quilts. Environmentally, buying vintage goods makes sense too, it is saving water, fuel and materials needed to produce new items. Packaging, where possible is also recycled and I would love it if you reused it once you unwrapped your package.
